Damon Eller and his #I4 team traveled to Illinois and Indiana over the weekend for a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events. At the Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois on Friday night, August 17, Damon ran fourth in his heat race to earn the fourteenth starting spot for the $10,000 to win A-Main. After fifty green flag racing laps around the racy Illinois oval, Damon was credited with a fourteenth place effort. The action then turned to the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana on Saturday evening, August 18 for the 28th Annual 'Jackson 100.' Damon was forced to take a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series provisional to gain access into the $15,000 to win A-Main after running fourth in his heat race and fifth in the B-Main. The Crumpler, North Carolina native could not advance too far up through the field in the 100-lap feature event, which was taped by the SPEED Channel cameras, due to an extremely one-groove racing surface. He wound up seventeenth in the final rundown of this year's 'Jackson 100.' Following the pair of weekend events, Damon is still ninth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings and is second in the Rookie of the Year battle.
