Damon Eller and his #I4 Dirt Late Model invaded the historic Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina last Friday night, June 20 for the annual 'Grassy Smith Memorial.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the annual event and a $7,000 top prize was up for grabs. Damon ran fifth in his heat race to advance to the 40-lap A-Main, where he started from the outside of the seventh row. The Crumpler, North Carolina native ran strong through the majority of the race, but a deflating tire in the waning laps dropped Damon to a twentieth place effort.

After the $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, North Carolina was washed out early on Saturday, the #I4 team hustled to the Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, North Carolina. An unsanctioned show was on tap at Friendship and a $2,000 winner's check was on the line. Damon qualified ninth fastest and was up to the fourth spot in the feature before being wrecked by another competitor. He went to the pits, received new rubber, and then proceeded to come from the back of the pack to salvage a strong fifth place performance.
